As 2020 approaches, the ability to look back and reflect on 2019 becomes easier. Somethings professional took a turn for the unexpected, while a majority of the personal things going on only got better.

One main point looking back is that more time was spent on the water surfing, paddling and working on boats. Going from working as a lifeguard, spending hours every week in the water, and having the ability to surf in the off time was a huge positive aspect going of my life. When careers transitioned into a position that inhibited that love of the water, professional growth took a priority.

Going into 2020, there is a strong desire to spend more time on the water for both physical and mental needs. More waves, more miles, more hours with friends.

Priorities

It has been four years since the last time an entry was written. During that time I allowed my focus to shift to areas that were not priorities to me.

I let the small unimportant things push aside the larger more important parts of my life.
I let work overtake play.
I let travel force being home into second place.
And worst of all, I let my being gone become a crutch for not taking the time to visit friends.
This is not a list of excuses but facts.

Now is time for a proper re-invention. There will always be waves, but not always waves with friends. There will always be work, but not always time with loved ones. There will always be travel, but it does not need to be a task.

Here is to the next step to making positive changes not only in my life but also in the lives of those around me. The Stranded Dog is back, but I refuse to be stranded in the same place for long.
