I lent out my copy of 180° South last night.
I know that I will get it back, it is in good hands.
It has been my mental getaway for the past couple months, however, and after manning a table at a health and benefits fair today, I could use a little getaway, even it is only on my couch. That hour plus of Jeff Johnson telling of his travels down to Patagonia really helps take you away from where you are. It makes you want to drop all that you are doing and go on an adventure.
The waves he surfs and the climbs he attempts really make you wonder... "How did he get to do this trip?"
The question you should be asking is not "how," or "why," but rather you should be asking yourself "Why haven't I?" Now I have traveled, with an old fashioned road trip out to Colorado and Wyoming and back, a week in the UK, numerous trips down to Florida or overnights to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Hell, I even did a month long stint in South Africa. And that was pretty life changing for me. But watching this movie and flipping through the book its just like...
"Why did he do this?"
"How did he make it happen?"
Those questions don't matter he did it, he filmed it, photographed it. He lived it and shared it with us.
Now I think to myself, "where am I headed next?"
I don't know. But I am going somewhere...somewhere that is not here.
So the question I ask you is...

Here is my first finished handplane. It is awkward shape but should work just fine. I'll let you know how the test run goes.
Igor is running up the coast. Hopefully it sends some nice lines of korduroy up here. Grab your boards... I'll grab my camera.
Left the house at 8am for a clean up day at the Salem Willows. This is what greeted me as I rounded Kernwood Country Club. It was a great morning to paddle. 6 miles total with a cleanup in between to stretch the legs. It was a good day. Now off to shop... Then out at 6. Then we shall see what is going to happen from there.
I recently was going through some old files of pictures and came across a couple that I forgot taking at Good Harbor Beach. I posted them down below. Hoping to get out over the next couple of swells and take some more photos and hopefully some video to get some new stuff coming out of the Stranded Dog doghouse.
I am hoping to get a good little winter segment section going on this year, videos, photos, who knows what else.
Trying to get a list together so I can meet people at their spots to get them some good pictures.
If you want to be one of those people then send me a note....here.
Oh and I think that might be me over there to the left in the strip.... Someone else was behind the len
SO tonight I went for a paddle with my buddy Brian into the night since the surf was flat. It was a super fun paddle with great colors as the sun went down. Thinking about maybe doing it again tomorrow night or might head out early on Thursday. Something about being out on the water is soo calming.... Makes me never want to hit dry land again.
